BEING A GIRL-CHILD INITIATIVE PARTNERS WITH SAVE THE GIRL-CHILD ADVOCACY ON UNDERSTANDING THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN & GIRLS CERTIFICATE COURSE TRAINING
Save the Girl-Child Advocacy is a Community-Based Outreach conceived to Advance the Rights of Women and Girls, Promote Girl-Child Education, Enhance and Empower Girl’s Children in fulfilling their potential.
Being a Girl-Child Initiative is a Girl-Child Led Organization established to address issues bothering the girl child such as adolescent reproductive health and rights, female infanticide and genital mutilation, child marriage, and promote access to quality education, develop and empower girls children in assuming leadership positions in our society.
The training is aimed to advance the rights of women and girls, develop and implement rapid and sustained economic growth policies and programs, in areas such as health, education, gender equality, and harnessing women political participation, allowing women to participate and contribute to the growth of economic.
A statement co-signed by the Directorate Save the Girl-Chil Advocacy, Fidelis Onakpoma, and Lilian Agusi, DG Being a Girl-Child Initiative, has it that “The duo organizations tend to educate, train and develop women and girls who are interested in the task of helping women and girls to overcome barriers related to reproductive health and rights, break the culture of silence and increase the level of reporting on issues of violence affecting women and girls, and help them become a titan in society”.
Miss Lilian Agusi also noted that “there is diversity around the world today with the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic, which has partially made women and girls more vulnerable to scarcity, insecurity and prone to any form of violence and abuse. We have put up this training to educate our women and girls and create credible awareness amongst them in overcoming every violence and abuse.”
The training outline is split to address issues on Civil Society, Education, Entrepreneurship, Governance, Health, Human Rights. When women and girls have equal access to education, societies prosper.
The overall-views of the certificate course are:
1. It examines the many benefits to individuals, families, and communities when they prioritize girls’ education, how gender discrimination and outdated social constructs are barriers to educational opportunity, and the necessary partnerships required to achieve gender equality in education.
2. The course features the pivotal role women play in a nation’s economy, how gender bias creates obstacles for women starting new businesses and strategies and tools to address certain types of gender discrimination including negative gender stereotyping that can keep women from succeeding in business and the workplace.
3. Gender-based violence is a global epidemic. It crosses every social and economic class, ethnicity, race, religion, and education level, and transcends international borders. This course covers the facts and consequences surrounding violence against women and girls, the responsibility that men have in preventing gender-based violence, and the necessary and practical approaches to ending it.
Observing the social distancing as a preventative measure to spreading Coronavirus, the training is scheduled to hold online, therefore interested applicants are to register for the training on or before 30th April 2020.
